Monday, April 6, 2026-Federal authorities in the United States have arrested two relatives of the late Iranian major general Qasem Soleimani in Los Angeles as part of a broader immigration enforcement action tied to national security concerns.

The detainees — the general’s niece, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, and her daughter — were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after their lawful permanent resident status was revoked under orders from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The arrests are reportedly connected to allegations of public support for the Iranian regime, including praise of Tehran’s leadership and attacks on U.S. forces.

Both women had been living in Los Angeles as green-card holders until their residency was terminated amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran.

Officials said Afshar had displayed social media posts celebrating attacks against American military personnel and expressing support for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a group designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization, which led to the revocations and subsequent arrests.

The action reflects an intensified policy stance from the Trump administration, which has stated it will not allow individuals tied to hostile foreign regimes to remain in the country. The detainees now face potential deportation proceedings, and their case is drawing attention for its implications on immigration, national security, and the broader U.S.–Iran conflict.
