Tuesday, July 21, 2026 - A swift response by police officers on patrol along Juja Road in Nairobi led to the arrest of four robbery suspects and the recovery of a stolen mobile phone moments after a member of the public reported being attacked.
According
to the National Police Service (NPS), the victim alerted officers that he had
been confronted by four men in the Amana area, one of whom appeared to be armed
with a firearm.
During
the robbery, the armed suspect struck the victim on the head before the group
stole his mobile phone and fled the scene.
Acting
immediately on the report, the officers pursued the suspects and intercepted
them in the Gaza area, where all four were arrested.
A
search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of the stolen mobile
phone and a homemade gun, described by police as a toy pistol, believed to have
been used to intimidate the victim during the robbery.
The
suspects were taken into police custody and are awaiting arraignment in court.
The
National Police Service reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal gangs
and ensuring those involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.
The recovered items have been retained as exhibits as investigations continue.
