Friday, July 24, 2026 - Details have emerged on the dramatic arrest of Moses Kigera, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of three men in Kiambu County before he fled to Karatina, where he is accused of plotting another deadly attack.

According to a Facebook post by a local activist, Kigera had been working as a caretaker at Mugumo Drive Apartments in Kiambu before he was reportedly dismissed after stealing 50 bags of cement from his employer's construction site.

The post claims that after another caretaker was hired to replace him, Kigera returned to the premises and fatally attacked three men identified as Ken, Muchiri and Cyrus.

After the killings, the suspect threatened to kill a woman and her two children living in the Giakaibei area of Mathira East Constituency, prompting security agencies and local residents to swing into action.

According to the post, Kigera travelled to Karatina Town, where he was reportedly spotted loitering near the National Oil station before heading towards Giakaibei using village footpaths after stopping at a local eatery for a meal.

However, unknown to him, the woman and her children had already been moved to a safe house after authorities received information about the alleged threats.

A joint operation involving members of the public, area administrators, the National Police Service and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) led to Kigera's arrest.

He was initially booked at Karatina Police Station before being handed over to DCI officers in Kiambu for further investigations.
