SIFUNA’s Linda Mwananchi addresses claims of political alliance with UHURU’s Jubilee Party after meeting with MATIANG’I

Thursday, July 23, 2026 - Linda Mwananchi has dismissed reports alleging it had formed a political alliance with the Jubilee Party to provide Kenyans with a “third option” outside the Kenya Kwanza administration and Rigathi Gachagua’s Democratic Conservative Party (DCP).

In a statement released Wednesday, July 22, the outfit flagged as fake a viral press release titled “Jubilee Party and Linda Mwananchi Form a New Political Alliance to Offer Kenyans a Third Choice.”

The document circulated shortly after Jubilee presidential aspirant Fred Matiang’i confirmed meeting Linda Mwananchi patron and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at his Karen office.

The disputed release claimed the alliance would be guided by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, bringing together Jubilee under Matiang’i and Linda Mwananchi under Sifuna.

It further alleged Kenyatta had welcomed the partnership as a chance to unite seasoned leadership with new political voices committed to safeguarding democracy.

It also suggested Matiang’i and Sifuna had agreed on a fresh political direction focused on economic recovery, institutional renewal, and national unity, alongside a nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign.

Matiang’i, however, clarified that his meeting with Sifuna was strictly about Linda Mwananchi’s upcoming Western Kenya tour.

“Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic coordination across the United Alternative Government and aligning efforts to offer Kenyans a credible, principled, and people‑centred alternative ahead of the 2027 General Election,” he said.

The Sifuna‑led movement is scheduled to hold two major rallies in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties.
