MERCY MAINA, the lady whose decomposing body was found at Lavington apartment had debts including car loan but lived a good life - Family exploited her financially

Friday, September 11, 2026 - Fresh details have emerged about the life of Mercy Maina, the 32-year-old lady whose decomposing body was discovered at her rented apartment in Lavington, Nairobi.

According to a source familiar with her life, Mercy was not necessarily struggling financially despite having an uncleared car loan and another loan which she was reportedly almost clearing against a title deed.

The loans were said to be worth KSh300,000 and KSh55,000 respectively.

The source described Mercy as a woman who lived a good life, noting that her lifestyle was beyond what an average Kenyan could comfortably afford.

However, the source claimed that Mercy appeared to be the black sheep in her family and had done all she could to support her parents and siblings financially, although she felt unappreciated.

Her choice of burial has also raised questions about how she viewed her relationship with her family.

According to the source, Mercy had requested that her ashes be disposed of in a river and said she did not need a eulogy because nobody knew her life well.
