Thursday, July 23, 2026 - Controversial Kenyan businesswoman and singer Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has stirred debate on social media after a video surfaced showing her giving relationship advice to her young daughter.
In the clip, Akothee is seen having what appeared to be a
candid "girl talk" with her daughter, encouraging her to prioritize
financial stability over love when choosing a partner.
According to Akothee, money should come first because love
can develop later, while love alone does not guarantee financial security.
“When you go for money, love will come. When you go for love, money will never come.
"It's better to cry in Dubai than cry in
Kanyamkago," she is heard saying in the video.
Her remarks sparked mixed reactions across social media,
