US deports former NFL player DANIEL ADONGO to Kenya over Visa overstay and criminal record (PHOTOs)

Sunday, July 26, 2026 - Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Daniel Adongo has been deported from the United States after immigration authorities determined he had overstayed his visa and posed a threat due to his criminal record.

The 37‑year‑old Kenyan, who played for the Colts between 2013 and 2015, was removed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Chicago.

Officials said Adongo overstayed his visa in 2016 and accumulated a criminal history that included arrests for felony intimidation, battery, and disorderly conduct.

In 2020, he was convicted of criminal mischief involving property damage and sentenced to one year in jail.

Homeland Security confirmed his deportation, stating: “Our communities are SAFER now that this criminal is OUT of our country.”

Authorities cited the Laken Riley Act, signed into law by President Donald Trump in 2025, which requires non‑citizens convicted of certain offenses to remain in custody without bond during immigration proceedings.

A Department of Justice immigration judge ordered Adongo’s removal in March 2026, and ICE carried out the deportation on June 20.

“This dangerous individual was clearly a threat to the community, which is now safer since he’s been removed.

“Those who violate immigration law are held equally accountable, including former professional athletes.” ICE Chicago Assistant Field Office Director Douglas Thompson remarked

Adongo, who initially moved to the U.S. as a rugby recruit before switching to American football, spent two seasons with the Colts through the NFL’s international player pathway.
